Parent Volunteer Information

"There's nothing stronger than the heart of a volunteer."
- Lt. Col. Jimmy Doolittle (Pearl Harbor movie) -

Volunteers usually get involved because they are connected with a person or an organization, and because they see the value of what they do.  For that reason, we want to encourage parents to get involved in their child's education by working together with teachers to be a part of this important part of their life!  Parent volunteers are an integral part of school life.  We would love to see you at the school for classroom activities, or at special events and outings where the extra help is needed!

Part of this process is that we also want to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff in Rocky View Schools; therefore, all volunteers must complete Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Checks. (RVS LetterRVS Admin procedure)

If you are coming from another school and your criminal record check is more than one year old, Rocky View mandates that a new Criminal Record Check be done.

APPLICATION:  Print this form, get it signed by School Administration, and take it down to your local RCMP police agency to obtain your record check.  (Or pick up a copy which is already signed from the office.)  NOTE: When going to the RCMP, you will be required to produce a valid Driver's license or Passport with photo I.D., plus another piece of government-issued I.D. such as Alberta Health Care Card or birth certificate.

INTERIM DECLARATION FORM:  This form must be completed and submitted to the school prior to volunteers coming in contact with students.  It's a declaration stating that Criminal Record Checks have been initiated.

ANNUAL DECLARATION FORM:  This form is used yearly to update your record check.  Record checks are good for 5 years; however, RVS requires this yearly declaration form.

As a Volunteer Visiting the school, we will ask you to stop by the office upon arrival to sign in and pick up a volunteer tag.  This helps us know who is in the building in case of an emergency!

We look forward to seeing you in the school!
