COVID Update: October 5, 2020

Dear parents, guardians and families,

Today, Alberta Health Services (AHS) notified us that additional individuals at Cooper’s Crossing School have tested positive for COVID-19. We currently have seven individuals directly associated with the school who have tested positive in the past two weeks. We are working closely with AHS to ensure the necessary precautions are taken to protect students and staff. For privacy reasons, we will not be sharing more information about the individuals.

Our school will continue to remain open for in-class learning.

Those students and staff, who our records show would likely be a new close contact with one of the individuals who tested positive, have been provided additional information about mandatory isolation and will be contacted directly by AHS. Some students already isolating due to previous contact with a COVID-19 positive individual may be contacted again by AHS about the need for extended isolation.

Screening for illness is an essential part of Rocky View Schools’ safety strategies to slow the spread of COVID-19. Do not send your child to school if they are sick or if they answer YES to any of the questions on the Alberta Health Daily Checklist. This checklist needs to be completed daily at home. If your child has symptoms, you need to complete the COVID-19 self-assessment for Albertans and keep your child at home. For questions about COVID-19, call 811 or visit alberta.ca/covid19.

Our thoughts are with all individuals impacted by this positive case. We wish anyone impacted a quick recovery and look forward to their return to school when they are well, and it is safe. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Sincerely,

Todd Hennig

Principal
