Maria Prefontaine
Hi, my name is Maria Prefontaine. I was born and raised in British Columbia where I graduated high school from Kimberley B.C and continued my education in College of the Rockies. Through COTR, I was a part of the University of Victoria distanced program. During my degree, I experienced teaching grades ranging from grade K-9 throughout my practicums. I graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor’s of Education and went directly into a teaching contract for a kindergarten class. I enjoyed teaching the grade so much, I have been teaching kindergarten for the 5 years of my career, this being my 6th.
I enjoy being active and participating in various activities and sports. I spend my summer by going out on my paddle board, hiking and enjoying the great outdoors. I enjoy volunteering in a few different areas such as Search and Rescue and coaching soccer. I moved to Airdrie in the spring of 2022 and am continuing to grow a love for the city and all it has to offer.
