Gretchen Riel

My name is Gretchen Riel and this is my sixth school year as an Early Intervention Teacher in the program and my eighteenth year as an educator at Rocky View Schools.  With each passing year, I believe that effective education puts the child at the centre and that all children can grow physically, mentally and emotionally. Young children's work is through play and it is through play that children can develop the skills they need to be lifelong happy learners. The best conditions happen when the school, home and community supports children. This is what happens in PIP and one of the things that make the program as effective as it is joyful.

Parent Tips

A family atmosphere prevails at our school with the education of your child being a shared responsibility. We encourage your interest in what your child does each day and welcome your involvement in the classroom, school council and at home.

  1. Please remind your child to practice their home reading on a regular basis.
  2. Please have your child go on our digital levelled reading program Raz Kids and share their reading with you. Encourage your child to read and answer the comprehension questions after reading any book.
  3. Our online library Book Flicks is available to all families, we encourage you to use this on a regular basis.
  4. Check out the Learn Alberta website for learning activities to do at home.
