My name is Trena McKinnon and I am the Child Development Advisor for Coopers Crossing School.

I am thrilled to be a member of our school community and excited about offering the CDA program in this school. This is my 14th year as a CDA for Rocky View Schools and I am bursting with excitement and ideas for our school.

First and foremost, it is my intention to get to know all of our students by visiting classrooms and planning many school-wide events. As a CDA, it is important to me that all students learn and acquire character and leadership skills, problem-solving and resiliency skills, friendship and social skills, and how to take care of ourselves physically, nutritionally and emotionally.

Some of the programs and supports that I provide include Spark for Learning, Breakfast Program, Comprehensive School Health, Bully Awareness and interventions, Conflict resolution, Fun Friends/Friends for Life, Mind-Up, Building Mental Wellness,  Zones of Regulation, Love and Logic, Leader in Me, Grade 4 Leadership, Student-led clubs, Character education, and Self-esteem building.

My door is always open to students, staff, and parents to discuss concerns or celebrate successes.

My availability is 7:30 - 3:00 on Monday - Thursdays, 7:30-1:15 Fridays and I can be reached by phone (403-945-4137) or email (
