My name is Trena McKinnon and I am the Child Development Advisor for Coopers Crossing School.

I am thrilled to be a member of our school community and excited about establishing and creating a CDA program in this school. This is my 12th year as a CDA for Rocky View Schools and I am bursting with excitement and ideas for our new school.

First and foremost, it is my intention to get to know all of our students by visiting classrooms and planning many school-wide events. As a CDA, it is important to me that all students learn and acquire character and leadership skills, problem-solving and resiliency skills, friendship and social skills, and how to take care of ourselves physically, nutritionally and emotionally.

Some of the programs and supports that I provide include Spark for Learning, Breakfast Program, Comprehensive School Health, Bully Awareness and interventions, Conflict resolution, Fun Friends/Friends for Life, Zones of Regulation, Love and Logic, Leader in Me, Grade 3 Leadership, Student led clubs, Character education, and Self-esteem building.

My door is always open to students, staff and parents to discuss concerns or celebrate successes.

My availability is 7:30 - 3:00 on Monday, Wednesday and Thursdays and I can be reached by phone (403-945-4137) or email (
