Dwayne Russ

Hello 4R Families,

My name is Dwayne Russ and I will be your grade four teacher for the 2018 – 2019 school year. I was born and raised in Edmonton (Go Oilers & Eskimos) and have taught for 16 years all around the world. I am very happy and excited to have this opportunity to continue my experience teaching at Cooper’s Crossing School. I have a simple teaching philosophy: have fun while learning. It is my goal as a teacher to provide students with a warm, structured and helpful environment, in which all students are encouraged to questions, learn and explore. Besides mastering the goals of inquiry, the students will also learn the importance of leadership, respect, kindness, honesty and responsibility. I will do my best to inform you of the events and issues of your child and the classroom. We will be sharing our learning journey daily through tweets and blog posts. Daily events and assignments will also be posted on the blog. Other communication will include weekly newsletters, Twitter updates, agenda notes, phone calls and event reminders. I am very excited to be working with the students, parents and community of Cooper’s Crossing School and the City of Airdrie. Open lines of communication are very important and helpful to the students, parents and teachers. If you ever have any questions or concerns, my door is always open. Please feel free to contact me at the school at 403.945.4137 or email me at druss@rockyview.ab.ca

Yours in Education,

Dwayne Russ

Parent Tips

A family atmosphere prevails at our school with the education of your child being a shared responsibility. We encourage your interest in what your child does each day and welcome your involvement in the classroom, school council and at home.

  1. Please remind your child to practice their home reading on a regular basis.
  2. Please have your child go on our digital levelled reading program Raz Kids and share their reading with you. Encourage your child to read and answer the comprehension questions after reading any book.
  3. Our online library Book Flicks is available to all families, we encourage you to use this on a regular basis.
  4. Check out the Learn Alberta website for learning activities to do at home.
